Virtual Classrooms

Here is a list of some awesome virtual classrooms in the form of social media interface sites, wikis, homework and assignment drop boxes, and more.

Schoology

A great virtual classroom resource, Schoology combines the best of Blackboard and Edmodo. Schoology keeps grades, allows the posting of assignments, media, links, and many other features. The app for phone and tablet is great and very user friendly.

Edmodo is a great virtual classroom that I love to use. It has a very similar interface to Facebook, however your classroom groups are isolated from the rest of the internet. Teachers can create and post assignments, attach links, share apps, and so much more! Quizzes can be short answer, fill in the blank, true/false, and open response. Teachers can keep grades, assign weights, and the website averages grades. Students can see their grades, and parents can keep track of students with a parent code. The website allows users to have clouded storage, a calendar, and access to countless groups of educators sharing best practices by content area and more!

Socrative allows teachers to generate questions in the form of educational exercises and games. Students can provide answers using laptops, cell phones, tablets, iPod Touches, or PCs. The website is perfect for "Do-Now" and "Exit Slip" types of assessments, allowing teachers to quickly collect data which may be instantly viewed as a spreadsheet to shape and drive instruction!

A wiki is a space on the Web where you can share work and ideas,
pictures and links, videos and media — and anything else you can think of.
Wikispaces is special because we give you a visual editor and a bunch of other
tools to make sharing all kinds of content as easy for students as it is for their teachers.
